Egypt or Syria.

Early 15th century.

A square stone paste tile freely painted in underglaze pale blue.

Two cusped cartouches occupy the centre that contain composite leafed palmettes are reserved in white against two mirror image cartouches. A detailed fish scale design makes up the background. A freely drawn meandering arabesque border in white, outlined in pale blue forms the border.
